Kappa Lambda 2021 Scholarship Application

Thank you for your interest in pursuing one of the academic scholarships funded by the Kappa Lambda Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.  Each year our chapter, through its Education Foundation, provides at least seven scholarships valued at $1,000 each to deserving African-American males in Guilford County Schools.

The guidelines for these scholarships are listed below. If you believe you satisfy these requirements, we ask that you apply for one of our scholarships by completing the following application.

Criteria and Next Steps:
1.) Applicants must be a graduating senior and must enroll in a four-year College or University immediately upon graduating from high school.
2.) Applicants must have a minimum 3.0 GPA (weighted).
3.) Must be an African American male enrolled in a Guilford County High School.

Complete Scholarship Packets Must Include:
1.) An electronically submitted Scholarship Application
2.) Two letters of recommendation – one of which must come from a representative of your high school. Please have your recommenders complete the online recommendation form, and it must be completed by the application deadline of February 19, 2021. One reference must be from the academic community (Principal, Assistant Principal, Teacher, or Counselor)
3.) A copy of your official high school transcript (must be uploaded along with the application packet)
4.) A copy of your official SAT or ACT scores (Note:  SAT and ACT scores are not always included with your transcript.
5.) A 750-1000 word, essay on the following topic: The current pandemic shifted what we considered normal. How have you created a “new normal” during the pandemic, and how has your “new normal” impacted your ability to engage with your family, friends, community, and school?

Your completed, application packet must be received by Friday, February 19, 2021 (no later than 11:59 p.m.). Any materials submitted after the deadline will not be reviewed.
